the story of the story

It all started with Christmas lunch 2020.

Rum had, had the idea for The Sea Glass Witch in his mind’s eye for many a year but had never come across an illustrator whose style matched what he was seeing in his head until the extended family sat for Christmas lunch. Rum asked Ella what she had been doing throughout the year.

"Studying to be an illustrator", she said.

"Oh! Can I see anything you’ve drawn?" At first sight, Rum knew he had found his illustrator.

As they ate lunch, Rum told Ella the story of the Sea Glass Witch, and by the time they had finished the Christmas pud, they agreed to bring the story to life.

By Christmas Lunch 2021 we were signing copies.
